Introduction to Pre Primary (age 3 to 6)
Nursery classes are intended to give children a happy introduction to music, mime and movement. Emphasis in these classes is in exploring movement, gaining self confidence and learning to listen and follow directions . The children are given an understanding of how to work within a group, share and take turns, whilst having great fun in a friendly and positive atmosphere.
RAD Ballet (Primary to Grade 8)
The RAD syllabus has been carefully structured on nine levels to give a full spectrum of qualities that boys and girls alike may gain from the study of ballet: artistic and musical awareness, careful placing of the body and self discipline.
Annual Childrens Examinations -
RAD Assessments and
RAD Upper Grades
For many children the enjoyment of their classes is enough. For others, the goal of an examination will provide the incentive to further effort, and the achievement of a reward for hard work. These examinations are not compulsory, but they help to measure progress and level of achievement. When preparing for an examination, a pupil must attend two ballet classes a week.
Shows
Professional choreographed productions are staged every four to five years, but children also participate in School Fetes, The Fair on the Green and local concerts.
We also run Ballet Clubs in the following schools:
• Our Lady of Victories - South Kensington
• The International School of London - Acton
• Holy Trinity School - Chelsea
• The Redcliffe School - Chelsea
• The Oratory - South Kensington
• Fulham Prep School Lower School
Ballet Clubs are run as an after school activity in several schools where children are encouraged to socialise and develop a common interst in Music and Dance. The RAD syllabus is adapted to each group, allowing freedom of style and content. Ballet Clubs are run at two levels: Infants and Juniors and children participate in a variety of events, Governors' Evening, School Concerts etc.
Assessment and Award Classes are held once a year.
As children mature, they are gradually encouraged to further their knowledge by joining a ballet class in the Ballet School.
Music and Movement classes form part of the school curriculum at the following:
• L'Ecole des Petits
• Tadpole Nursery School
Staff
All teachers are fully qualified. Teachers in the School are registered with the RAD and are therefore entitled to enter pupils for RAD and ISTD Examinations.
